ANCFSAO Elders Advisory Council

May 9, 2025

Three day elders advisory council and meeting in Sault Ste Marie and Mississaugi First Nation hosted by ANCFSAO.

Mnaasged Child and Family Services was invited to join Association of Native Child and Family Services Agencies of Ontario (ANCFSAO) and Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to attend, collaborate, and listen to each other over a period of three days. During this period ANCFSAO presented on key issues First Nations are facing and future policies that will change the landscape of child welfare in First Nation communities.

During the second day Mississaugi First Nation and Nogdawindamin hosted all parties to their Seven Pines Medicine Camp for a youth demonstration and ANCFSAO youth project naming ceremony. Here are some pictures from Seven Pines Medicine Camp in Mississaugi First Nation. With multiple First Nation child and family wellbeing agencies, the Ontario Ministry, and local community members in attendance we got to witness first hand into how Nogawindamin incorporates culture into prevention, land based learning, and passing of knowledge to future generations.

Thank you for your invaluable teachings and exceptional hospitality. Your guidance and involvement has made a significant impact on us, and we truly appreciate it.
